The SSL 2+ marks, together with the (almost identical) SSL 2, the first steps into the field of audio interfaces from the British company Solid State Logic, a household name for many musicians and sound designers who will think of large mixing consoles. The 4000 series consoles in particular have a legendary reputation and the SSL 2+ interface is reminiscent of this series in terms of both appearance and sound. The “Legacy 4K” switch provides sound coloration based on the 4000 series, but you will learn more about that later in this article. Apart from this special feature, the SSL 2 presents itself as a typical 2-channel USB interface with LEDs, a MIDI interface and a large monitoring controller, all for a surprisingly low price when you know the SSL standards.
